I’ve been really inspired by this rose quartz I’ve been cutting. I like how the colour plays off the silver and the skin. It provides a warm calming glow as it catches the light. It’s a lovely stone to wear!
This piece is weirdly and specifically inspired by the stained glass rose in the opening scene of Disney’s animated version of Beauty and the Beast. I love the idea of playing with the light to show off something that seems ordinary but is actually very special.
The first time I ever saw rose quartz it was a lump of rock at my grandparent’s place up north by the lake. My grandfather held it up and explained what it was and how it came to be and what you could do with it. I thought it was treasure. Rose quartz has a special lace in my heart 💖 so I’m always happy to work with it. This particular piece was a great colour. Really pink, not just faded sort of pink.
There’s something feminine and soft and earthy about rose quartz in jewellery. It reminds me of flowers even in a simple design.
My brass and picture jasper earrings. They’re my ode to the Arizona desert after my first trip there. I loved the landscape and the feeling you get looking out from the city.
