Dinosaur

Jeweller's Bench:

sterling silver, Dinosaur bone

I bought this piece of agatized dinosaur bone on my first trip to Tucson. I cut it, polished it up, then blasted all around the surface to reveal this raptor design.

It was pretty scary and a little emotional sand blasting that beautiful flat polished surface. But to this day its probably my favourite lapidary endeavour.

Dinosaur bone makes such a fun stone. It exists in lots of colours with fantastic patterns. Plus, they're dinosaurs! Millions of years have past and still there's proof that they existed. The dinosaurs may be gone, but their memory is not forgotten.
